The airport has a fast, efficient taxi system right outside the terminal door. Just tell the “Taxi Captain” where you’re staying and the cab pulls up. They’re government-set rates, so no hassles. The ride to our resort/area is about 20 minutes.

Aruba is a very safe country, owned by The Netherlands, and most people speak English and many prices are in U.S. dollars. You can ride the city bus to the downtown area (a pickup area is just outside the Barcelo resort) where cruise ships dock and do some serious shopping. Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard) are accepted almost everywhere, except for the $3 city bus fare (Florin is the currency of Aruba). Hotels and resorts should be able to exchange dollars for Florins. There are also lots of local souvenir shops in our area of Palm Beach/Noord. Please note that you will go through U.S. Customs before leaving Aruba; arrive to the airport 4 hours before your flight back home.
The below only applies to Barcelo Aruba resort guests: - Tips are not expected, but you’ll get a little extra love from the bartenders (tips can be in American dollars). - When you arrive at the resort, you'll have a private check-in (not in the main lobby). Ask the concierge to direct you to First Club check-in. - Specialty dining restaurants have dress code requirements at dinner: Men must wear closed-toe shoes, long pants/khakis, and a collared shirt. Women cannot wear thong flip-flops or bathing suit coverups. - Bring a Yeti or tumbler so you don't have to go to the bar as often. The bar will fill up just about any vessel you want to use. - Beach towels are provided, so you don't need to bring your own. - Safes are available in each room. - If you want to do an excursion, wait and book through the resort once you arrive. Or, book through a trusted source, like Trip Advisor.
