We met at a park for our journalism class the summer before our freshman year of high school. The first conversation started with Denzel asking McKenna if she watched Game of Thrones and her saying no and then we did not say another word to each other until sophomore year.

Denzel was intensely pressured from their mutual friend to ask McKenna to go out with him to Homecoming. After a very clumsy and awkward, will- they- wont- they Homecoming, they considered that maybe their friendship was something more.

They had their first date at the movie theatres. The pair watched Arrival, and if you asked the couple what the movie was about, they could not tell you as they were both nervous about holding hands for the first time during the movies. Even after McKenna said she felt tired after the first date, the two continued to enjoy their time together from graduating high school, navigating college, and eventually establishing themselves in their careers.

McKenna and Denzel planned their first out of country trip to Japan in 2024. McKenna asked Denzel if he was going to propose. Denzel said "No, of course not." He lied. Denzel proposed to her on the very first night. Rumors have it that McKenna has a video of the proposal. The rest is history, and they now live in their cute apartment with their many plushies, anime inspired art, and dream of their future together.
