Jewish custom has the couple begin the first week of their new life together in the embrace of their families and community. For the week following the wedding, it is customary for friends or relatives host festive meals each day in the new couple's honor. Each festive meal, which includes the recitation of the same Seven Blessings, is referred to as “Sheva Brachot”.
