Things To Do
Telluride
One of Colorado's most beautiful tourist towns, especially during leaf-peeping season! You can explore downtown or hike the trails! Bridal Veil Falls is on Jordan's bucket list. If you'd like to see some amazing views without a hike, you can take the gondola.
Ouray
"The Switzerland of America." Enjoy the valleys, mountains, and waterfalls... or do a Via Ferrata here like we did in Switzerland! If you're not looking for an adrenaline boost, downtown is known for great shopping, bars, restaurants, and hot springs with an amazing view.
Pagosa Hot Springs
Soak in some relaxing hot springs and enjoy the cute town.
Palisade Wineries
Our first trip together! Colorado wine country. A bit further than the others on this list, it is about 3 hours away from Durango, but worth the trip. Moab and Arches National Park is a short drive from here too!
Mesa Verde National Park
One of Colorado's National Parks with easy access and drive-up photo opportunities. If you want to tour the Pueblos book tickets in advance.
Arches & Canyonlands National Parks
Located near the Palisade wineries. This was our first camping date!
Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
You can sand board, hike dunes, and enjoy the beauty of a very unique National Park.
Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
A historic train ride traveling through the ruggedly beautiful San Juan National Forest while observing awesome mountain vistas. They have special events, dinners, and packages available on their website.
Denver
Denver is about a 6 hour drive from Durango, or a short flight. We would be happy to give recommendations if you are interested in exploring the more urban side of Colorado while you're here.
