Question

What is the current COVID-19 situation in Spain?

Answer

8/15 - COVID-19 infections are decreasing in Spain, with an average of 223 cases per 100K people reported in the last 7 days, 41% of its peak and falling. Spain continues to treat COVID cautiously, maintaining social-distancing and mask mandates indoors and within 6ft of others outdoors. Restaurants are now permitting 8 at a table outside and 6 for a table inside. 65% of the population is vaccinated, hoping to reach 75% in the coming month. The borders are currently open to Americans who are vaccinated or can show a negative PCR/antigens test. sourced: https://graphics.reuters.com/world-coronavirus-tracker-and-maps/countries-and-territories/spain/

Question

What do we need to know about COVID-19 in Spain?

Answer

5/21 - Spain finally came out of its 6 month state of alarm on May 9th, permitting travel throughout the provinces. On June 7th, Spain will be opening its borders to tourists from other countries, including the United States, provided they show a certificate proving they have received full vaccinations. Masks are still mandatory in all public places, and at this point, restaurants and bars are only permitting groups of 6 at a table outside, and 4 for a table inside, but this should change in the coming months.

Question

How should I plan my travel?

Answer

We recommend downloading the "Hopper" app on your phone and watching flights from your city to MAD (Madrid Adolfo Suarez-Barajas Airport). When you arrive at the airport, you can get to Alcalá by train, bus, taxi or uber, but we are also more than happy to pick up who ever we can, as it is only a 20 minute drive! http://www.alcalanow.com/barajas-airport-to-alcala/

Question

When should I plan to arrive in Spain?

Answer

We would love for family and friends traveling afar to join us at our welcome party Saturday evening. And for you to, perhaps, enjoy the historic medieval festival here in Alcalá, as long as everything goes accordingly with COVID measures (Oct. 2nd-10th).

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

It really is not necessary to have a car here in the Alcalá/Madrid area. Public transportation (bus, train, metro) is very accessible and manageable. The city center is crowded and parking is limited.

Question

What type of weather is to be expected?

Answer

Over the last few years, high temperatures average at around 75°F, dropping to about 60°F at night.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail / Evening - Part of the ceremony and reception will be held outside in the garden, so rethink the stilettos.

Question

Is there a shuttle to and from the ceremony?

Answer

Yes, we will be providing a bus from the center of Alcalá to the venue and back (about 15 min. drive)

For all the days along the way
