Some love stories start with a grand entrance. Ours? It started with Chick-fil-A in the middle of a thunderstorm — and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We originally met through my cousin Nijah back in high school. Life had its plans, and so did we — even if we didn’t quite know it yet. Our official first date wasn’t in a fancy restaurant, but in the comfort of a car, parked while the rain poured around us. Between nuggets and lightning bolts, we talked for hours. That was the moment we both felt it — this was something special. Things moved fast… like really fast. One day we were dating, and the next, we were living together. (Don’t ask how it happened, it just did — and somehow, it made perfect sense.) Our first road trip was to Odessa, Texas — a city we barely knew but eventually called home. Then came a visit to New York during football season. What was supposed to be a relaxing day — mani-pedis and mini golf — turned into a moment we’ll never forget. Standing in front of a beautiful place that looked like Niagara Falls, he got down on one knee and asked the easiest question I’ve ever answered. We’ve built a love rooted in gentleness, laughter, and unwavering safety. We are each other’s peace, each other’s person, and occasionally, each other’s favorite comedian. Now, we can’t wait to start this next chapter — surrounded by the people who’ve been cheering us on since the beginning.
