Our journey began in August of 2017 at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, as we both embarked to attain our PhD and become clinical psychologists. What started as a friendship quickly grew into something more. We attended football games, drank at local bars like 1716, made day-trips to Lake Martin, and enjoyed the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico — we were inseparable. But it wasn’t until two and a half years after we met that our friendship turned romantic. Since then our love has endured and blossomed, growing stronger through every twist and turn. The challenges of pandemic kept us home and we spent countless hours together building a foundation for our love. The difficulty of a nationwide search for two distinct, specialized clinical residency programs in the same city led us to living together in Kansas City, a year we both agree was one of the best of our lives. On August 4th, 2023, as we took graduation photos and our journey to become clinical psychologists came to an end, Eric Crosby proposed to Melissa Miller in Auburn, Alabama, at the same location where we shared our first kiss. Although Melissa was ever the detective and suspected the proposal, when Eric got down on one knee to ask Melissa to spend the rest of their lives together, the surprise and excitement were indescribable. We celebrated together at 1716, then had dinner surrounded by family at Amsterdam Café, where we had our first date. Now, after navigating the challenges of postdoctoral fellowships in different cities, we’re excited to start this next chapter together. We can’t wait to share this special day with you and look forward to a lifetime of love and adventures!!
