In true millennial fashion, Jake and Melody met on the dating app, Hinge. While marketed as “the app designed to be deleted” because you’ll have such good luck that you’ll no longer need the app, neither Jake nor Melody could have imagined meeting their person, and knowing so quickly, off of a swipe. But the rest is history! After matching, they had their first date the very next day and three dates their first week. Jake says he knew she was the one on their third date. Sometimes when you know, you know. Melody didn’t expect to fall for a nice Lutheran boy from the Chicago suburbs who loves sports. And Jake didn’t expect to find the love of his life in a Jewish law student/mother of three. But these extroverts, while from different worlds on the surface, have twin hearts deep down (and on the dance floor) and cannot wait to commit to a lifetime together.

Melody and Jake will be tying the knot in two parts. Part One: The couple decided, with the kiddos in mind, that it would be best to have a small wedding ceremony to be officially married before fully combining their homes. So to close out 2023 with a bang, the two said “I do” in a private ceremony, on New Year’s Eve, in the presence of immediate family. The ceremony was both beautiful and meaningful, but the real party couldn’t happen without all of you! Part Two: The couple couldn’t imagine not celebrating with their loved ones. So, they’ll be having a formal wedding celebration on New Years Eve of 2024 to give them a chance to commit to each other in the presence of friends and family and to celebrate this amazing “happily ever after” and sweet new beginning. The wedding ceremony will technically be a renewal of vows on their very first anniversary!
