Meet the Mellos 2023

Hayley and Tom met on one of Hayley’s weekend trips to Boston. Hayley and bff Carolyn would often drive up together from NJ to visit their UMass and UConn friends. One night in 2015 Hayley spotted a handsome guy double fisting Dirty Shirleys. Tom also wanted to meet the weird girl with glasses from New Jersey so he brought her a gift. In the same way an outdoor cat will bring a dead bird to your doorstep, Tom gifted Hayley an Anastasia of Beverly Hills lip gloss that he found on the floor of the bar. For the next 5 years, they would continue to run into each other at parties in NYC and Boston. After years of relentless begging, bffs Greg and Morgan gave Tom Hayley’s number. Tom was put on a work project that brought him to NYC once a week. Hayley told Morgan and Greg that she wasn’t looking for anything serious but it might be nice to hang out with Tom once a week. Hayley and Tom talked for a while before finally scheduling their first date March 2020. 🙃. I know, right? They continued to call and FaceTime each other for a few months. Even as Hayley and bff Beth were filming daily dance routines and having evening chats with the backyard deer, Tom managed to stay on Hayley’s radar. Some nights, Hayley would leave the Codey family dinner table a little early only after a couple rounds of Rummy to sneak upstairs and talk to Tom. Mrs. Codey was confused why Hayley always needed to go to bed early to prepare for a full day of not leaving the house. Meanwhile in Boston, Tom’s friends were starting to wonder: Why did you buy a car? Why do you keep spending the weekend in New Jersey? Why do you bring home cannolis every Sunday? Cautiously, through many an outdoor park hang, Tom and Hayley introduced each other to their friends and it was clear that this was the real deal. Fast forward: Tom moved to Hoboken, proposed in Portugal, and now they’re getting married in Nashville. Cheers y’all!
