Walden Pond is a national historic landmark where author Henry David Thoreau lived for nearly three years. Here he was inspired to write 'Walden,' a parable about living ethically and deliberately. Thoreau's writings inspire respect for nature and conservation.
The museum's sixteen galleries are focused on Concord's Native American, literary, abolitionist, cultural and revolutionary history. It contains artifacts from the Revolutionary War and environmentalist authors Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau.
