Corniche & Pigeon Rocks

Walk (or bike) along the Corniche to witness the leisurely flow of life by the Mediterranean; if you head south towards the Raouche neighbourhood, you will eventually come to one of Beirut's most iconic natural sites: the Pigeon Rocks, limestone formations jutting out of the sea. Come at sundown for shisha with a view.

National Museum of Beirut

The National Museum of Beirut is the principal museum of archaeology in Lebanon. The collection begun after World War I, and the museum was officially opened in 1942. The museum has collections totaling about 100,000 objects, most of which are antiquities and medieval finds from excavations undertaken by the Directorate General of Antiquities. If you go there, take the time to visit Badaro neighborhood next to it and have a lunch at Armenian-Lebanese restaurant 'Onno' or a drink at one of the many cafés in Badaro.

American University in Beirut

Visiting the American University of Beirut (AUB) is a must-do for anyone visiting Hamra, Beirut. AUB is a historic and prestigious institution that offers a beautiful campus with lush gardens, stunning architecture, and numerous cultural events. Take a walk around the campus, visit the AUB Museum, explore the AUB Archaeological Museum or take a stroll around the AUB Botanical Garden. You will find it is a great place to relax and enjoy the views.

Gemmayzeh and Mar Mkhael neighborhoods

To discover an edgier, hip side to the city, walk down the thoroughfares of Armenia Street (Mar Mikhael) and Gouraud Street (Gemmayzeh), and soak in Beirut's undeniable cool. There are plenty of attractive brunch spots and swank art galleries around (check out the St Nicholas Stairs in the summer for some al fresco art).

Byblos (Jbeil)

An ancient Phoenician city at about 35 kilometers north of Beirut, Byblos is a picturesque seaside town with an old souk and port. And with many good restaurants!
