The area around Wind Mountain Ranch is beautiful. Nearby Hood River has lots of kite and wind boarding, as well as several breweries and good restaurants. Portland, just an hour West, is also a great destination. Just ask Kyle Grelle. 

Right by the venue, there is a hike called Wind Mountain. There is also a Gorge tour on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler. 

Across the Gorge, in Oregon, there are many noteworthy sites, including the famous Multnomah Falls.
