We met while working at Central Bakery at the Disneyland Resort. As fate would have it, Rigo was placed at the bakery because the original work location he had applied for at the Disneyland Hotel had already filled the role he wanted but since he was so charismatic, Disney put him elsewhere. We worked at the bakery for a couple of years before we even thought about each other as more than just fellow Cast Members. We surprised everyone at the bakery because we are completely opposite of each other. Rigo is outgoing and charming and Melissa is reserved and sarcastic, not to mention we are enemies when it comes to favorite baseball teams. Rigo loves the Dodgers, as you can see on the tattoo on his calf and Melissa roots for the Angels. They do share one thing in common, their fandom of the Green Bay Packers but they have always butted heads when it comes to baseball.
Since Rigo is such an outgoing guy, he had to go out with a bang when he proposed marriage. He planned it all out with his family and even with a few co-workers from the bakery. One of his favorite holidays has always been the Fourth of July because of the fireworks so he knew he had to incorporate that into his proposal. Melissa & her daughter, Aviana went over to the Godoy house for the day with no idea of what Rigo had up his sleeves. He had asked for her parents’ blessing the day before but she had told him that whenever he did decide to propose to keep it low key and private but we all know that’s not Rigo’s style. Melissa never grew up around fireworks so when he and the rest of his family had her go and light up a firework to start the evening, she was very hesitant but reluctantly agreed. There, in the middle of the street, Rigo got down on one knee in front of Melissa and this giant firecracker and proposed. She was so sure he was joking around because they’ve always joked about getting married with friends and family. Even though she wasn’t sure if he was joking or not, she of course said YES and the rest as you say, is history.
