It was a typical Friday in a typical week in a typical month in a small, New Hampshire town. Melissa had just wrapped up the workday and, like most days, hopped in her car and headed off for an evening stroll with her dog, Ham. The weather was calm and the sun was still out so she opted to go to Raspberry Farms, a local spot that was light in foot traffic. She and Ham made their way through the woods, out the open field, passed the pond and up the hill back towards the parking lot. Off in the distance a stranger with a little white dog she had never seen before was walking towards her... Owen, new to the area, had learned about Raspberry Farms from a neighbor. Being just 2 minutes down the road from his quant, country cottage it became his go-to spot for walking his dog, Annie. On this typical day, something in the air was different. And as he rounded the corner he saw a girl with a rather large dog by her side walking towards him... Ham approached Annie, gave her a sniff and decided she was cool enough to join him and his mom for the remainder of their walk. After all, it wasn't often they bumped into humans his mom's age in this area. Annie, who typically takes a disliking to anyone and everyone except her dad, was instantly drawn to this new human. "She has good vibrations" she thought, and comfortably settled in along side her ankle. This took her Dad by surprise. He had never seen his dog approach anyone so willingly! Melissa and Owen continued on their walk together talking about everything and nothing. Once back at the parking lot, as the sun was setting, they said their goodbyes, got into their respective cars and drove off. Melissa was excited about this chance encounter and immediately called a friend to share the news. And Owen couldn't help think there was something special about the girl he just met... The coming days, each of them went back to Raspberry Farms hoping to run into one another again. Unfortunately, the recent time change made it impossible to go after working hours as when they had first met, and so the days turned into weeks. Melissa would drive around on the hunt for an unassuming red Mazda Tribute. Owen asked every person he bumped into if they new "Marissa" with the big dog. Then, one faithful Saturday... Melissa had plans to meet up with her Mom and had about 45 minutes to tire Ham out before going out for the day. Raspberry Farms it is! They rushed through the loop and back to the car as she was already cutting it close on time. She pulled out the parking lot and headed down the road towards home. Alas! A red Mazda Tribute heading right towards her! "Could it be him," she wondered? She slowed down as the car passed her and there, sitting on top of the center console, a little white dog! She watched eagerly in her rear view mirror to see if the Tribute turned into Raspberry Farms. It did! Melissa, not willing to let this opportunity pass by, pulled a u-ey and headed back to the parking lot she just left. She played it cool as though she had just arrived. She hopped out the car and called for Ham. Ham, a creature of habit, confused and adamant that it was time to go home as he had already done this walk, stood still at the edge of the parking lot. Melissa desperately called for him until he reluctantly came. She quickly caught up to Owen, who, not wasting another second, immediately asked for her number. "I've been looking for you!" he clamored. Not wanting to admit she turned around to accidently "bump" into him and was out of time, Melissa had to continue on the walk for a short time before ultimately rushing off to meet her Mom. And the rest is history...
