Question

About the area:

Answer

LaLa Park is located 45 miles southwest of Austin, Texas. It lies in the Edwards Plateau ecoregion, one of 10 ecoregions in the great state of Texas. The Edwards Plateau is characterized by crystal clear springs, rocky limestone terrain, and a mix of wildflowers, cacti, and oak-juniper woodlands. About a quarter of all unique plant species found only in Texas (called endemic plant species) are found in this ecoregion. LaLa Park also lies in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. This is a sensitive area where rainfall penetrates the porous limestone rock beneath our feet and enters the Edwards Aquifer, one of the most prolific artesian aquifers in the world. It provides drinking water for approximately two million people. Between 25 –55 million acre-feet of water may be present in the Edwards aquifer. Inspired by the success of the nearby City of Dripping Springs, this area is also a Dark Sky community. This means the community has shown exceptional dedication to the preservation of the night sky through the implementation and enforcement of minimized light pollution, dark sky education, and citizen support of dark skies. The benefits of this work include improved environmental conditions for plants and wildlife, who rely on Earth’s predictable rhythm of day and night for their biological function and our ability to view the stars that, prior to industrialization, our ancestors experienced nightly.

Question

What do we wear?

Answer

Lala Park is an outdoor venue on mostly grass. September in central Texas can be hot. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.

Question

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

We love your kids, but in order for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves our wedding will be an adults only event, besides Bentley of course. We thank you for understanding! If you need a sitter in the area, please let us know.

Question

What's the parking situation?

Answer

We recommend carpooling if possible. At the venue there is a parking lot that can accommodate about 45 cars. Uber and Lyft are available in San Marcos and Wimberley but please plan on either camping at the venue or getting a sober ride.

Question

Where do we stay?

Answer

We recommend finding an Airbnb in San Marcos or Wimberley. There are also hotels in San Marcos. There is camping available at the venue as well for a $25 fee. Let Michael or Mel know if you're interested in camping!
