Wilmington is a cute Vermont town where you can stroll, see funky shops and bookstores and grab a casual bite to eat. There is also an easy hike along the Hoot and Toot trail to Harriman Reservoir. It's about 2 miles round trip from downtown, mostly flat and gentle. More information about this and other hikes, and the town, are in the links.
Huge lake with easy paddleboard or ski boat rentals at High Country Marine off of Route 9. They also have several swimming areas, the busier being at the Fairmont Launch. The quieter one is at Mt. Mills West Picnic Area. From the Mt. Mills West Picnic Area, you can also hike up the relatively flat Catamount Trail, which goes along the lake about 7 miles to the dam.
If you have a car and time, explore one of these cute towns. Bennington highlights include the Bennington Battlefield Monument with great views of the valley. Bennington is a casual town. Think breweries, Birkenstocks and deadheads. Manchester is higher end with beautiful galleries and good restaurants. You can also hike up Mt. Equinox or see the waterfall at Lye Brook Falls trail. See photo of Maarten at the latter. Both trails are steep and allow pets.
A great hike to do in the evening, without needing to drive anywhere if you're staying at Mt. Snow. Probably 3 hours round trip. Great views the whole way, through the ski slopes!
