7 Years in the Making

August 25, 2017 Melissa had just graduated from High School and was looking for a new job. After having applied at multiple places, one in particular gave her a near immediate start date and the best part, she wasn’t going to be handling food…….or so she thought (haha!). As she walked into the Stater Brothers break room for her first day and orientation, she thought to herself, “Welcome to the first day of my free adult life.” And just as she got to the top of the stairs she knew that the ‘free’ part of that statement was already over. Because, as fate would have it, Josh was already up in the break room eating lunch with his coworker and all it took was one look for the both of them to say in synchronous internal dialogue “Mine! Mine! MINE!” To this day it is HEAVILY debated on who truly made the first move, but the both of them would be up till 2am the first night they started talking, nearly 2 months after they met. A week later they would hang out for the first time outside of work to help Melissa find a Halloween party outfit which, in her nervousness, Melissa almost shoplifted on accident until Josh asked her if she were going to pay for it…..smooth move -.- The good news was that near-blunder actually got Josh a chance to get closer to Melissa and what she thought was a disaster had turned into a cute story to tell. He can’t wait to tell their future kids that their mother could’ve been a hardened criminal if it wasn’t for him! Halloween rolled around and they were both working a shift that day. Josh and Melissa had started having lunches together in his car and when her lunch had come to an end as she was getting out of the car and about to leave, Josh pulled her back in and kissed her for the first time……took him long enough! Now we find ourselves at November 4th. A coworker had invited a few friends to go watch Thor: Ragnarok (at least that’s what the coworker had told Melissa) to which she asked Josh if he could take her to the theatre. Conveniently for this coworker, the others “couldn’t make it”, but he invited a friend who could. Melissa and Josh had been talking for about a week and a half at this point and were happy to look at this movie as a first date. The whole time they held pinky’s and secretly glanced at each other, since Josh thought dating a coworker was against the rules and couldn’t be displayed. At the end of the night, which by the grace of Daylight Savings he made it to Melissa’s home just before midnight, Josh had asked Melissa to be his girlfriend and the rest was history.
