We met on Match.com. Joey had been looking for his perfect match; I had literally just signed up and created my profile when Joey messaged me. We talked over the phone for weeks before meeting in person. He was the first and only man from Match that I went out on a date with. Our first date was at Sabor, an elegant, unique Mexican restaurant in the Santa Clarita Valley, where we both happened to live. We talked about our lives, laughed until our eyes watered, and felt an instant connection as nothing else around us mattered in that moment.
As a Valentine's Day gift to mark the two-year anniversary of when we met, Joey booked a romantic trip for us to Maui! Little did I know that he had bigger plans than just an amazing vacation to a place I had always wanted to go... We were there for 8 days. On the final morning of our trip, with only 5 hours until our flight home, we took a breathtaking helicopter tour of the entire island. Halfway through the private tour, the pilot did a "touch down" on a stunning hillside on Ulupalakua Ranch. The grass was like silk, and so long that it reached past my waist. We had 20 minutes to get out of the helicopter and take in the magnificent views of the island from this beautiful vantage point. Joey immediately led me to a knoll where the grass was a bit shorter. He then said a bunch of really sweet, endearing things to me, and finished with "My greatest adventure is you... and you are the adventure that I never, ever want to end... Melissa Jillian Pollack, will you marry me?" I shook with emotion, I cried, and I said "YES!" We are so excited to celebrate this next adventure in our lives with you. See you in Burbank!
