Brian and Melissa met in Portland, Maine during the summer of 2013 through a mutual friend (McLane). About a week after Brian and Melissa met, Melissa was headed to see Phish in Washington state, but her friend she was suppose to go with backed out so she asked Brian if he wanted to go. Brian said "Sure, why not?" so they hopped on a plane and flew to Seattle and spent a weekend together. Upon their return to Maine, Melissa and Brian hung out often, going to dinner, hanging out with friends, playing mini-golf, and seeing concerts around Portland. That fall, Brian and Melissa Brian moved in with Melissa and her roommate Max. A year later, they moved in with another friend, Chris. Eventually, Brian and Melissa saved up enough money to do something they'd always wanted to do - travel around the country. In November of 2014, they bought a 15' tow-behind camper and traveled 30,000 miles around the country. They visited 11 national parks, many state parks, and each of their siblings along the way. They began to miss their family and friends and realized Maine was where they wanted to reside. In June 2015, they moved in with Brian's mother, Maureen, in Cherryfield, Maine. That fall, they went to southern Maine for McLane's wedding. They stayed in Old Orchard Beach at the Friendship Inn. It was there that Brian proposed to Melissa, on the balcony of their hotel room overlooking the ocean (ironically, Melissa's mother lost the diamond out of her wedding ring somewhere around this hotel the previous summer while on vacation!) In 2016, they moved in with Melissa's parents until they bought their first home in Fort Fairfield a year later. They still reside in their 1923 farmhouse along with their black lab, Chloe; two cats Felix and Fluffernutter. In 2019, they welcomed into the world their daughter, Caroline. Brian and Melissa decided it is finally time to tie the knot and continue on their journey of being parents, building a home, and being involved in their community.
