8 years ago at a street carnival in Ironton, Amber wasn't feeling very well and was leaving to go home. When they met, Melissa was mesmerized by Amber's beautiful blue eyes. Amber's hands were full when they were introduced, so Melissa hugged her. Amber is NOT a hugger so... awkward! But too late! Melissa had hugged her - and was hoping to do it again and again.

Amber proposed. She asked for permission from Kelsey and England first and they said "Yes!" Amber set up a small scavenger hunt with riddles. Melissa followed the clues to the Port of Ashland, then to a specific bench with one last riddle and a perfect white rose. This led her to the top of the stairs at the lookout where Amber was waiting with a perfect red rose. Amber got down on one knee and proposed. Melissa said "Yes!"

Florida 2016: sitting together on the beach one evening and watching a fireball shoot across the sky. 2018: Family white water rafting trip. Going for walks together - being quiet and present in those moments with each other. All of the "firsts" we've had together.
