The first time Melly met Adrian was on the quad at Rubidoux during lunch time. Adrian walked up to say hi to a mutual friend and then said hi to Melly. He noticed that Melly was wearing a shirt of The Beatles, and said, "Oh cool, you like The Beatles? I want to learn how to play one of their songs on guitar." Then Melly asked "Which song? I have tons on my IPod?" The song was "Come Together". Even though it took 2 years for Adrian to ask Melly to be his girlfriend (and 9 years to propose), it was love at first sight :)

Adrian and Melly planned to walk the beach early in the morning on her 25th birthday. They walked on the sand, hand in hand, until they reached a spot where the waves crash on the rocks. Melly placed her phone on a rock (away from the waves) to take pictures with Adrian. Once they were getting ready to move on, Adrian decided he wanted a photo with his phone. After the photo was taken (Melly thought), Adrian hugged Melly tight, then he took her promise ring off her hand, and got down on his knee. Adrian was recording the special moment the whole time! And this was by far the best birthday!

For the past 9 years, Adrian and Melly celebrated their anniversary on June 13th. And every month for the past 9 years, they always made sure they were together on the 13th and acknowledged that was their special number. That's why it was important to the couple to keep the same date and celebrate their 10th anniversary on their wedding day :)
