It all begins at Bowie State University.... A girl goes to dinner and returns to the table to be told by her then roommate that she’d just missed this guy who expressed his interest in her. Though the guy hadn’t stayed long; he was able to see the girl had social media and decided to formally introduce himself there. They began speaking slowly overtime and eventually began dating. Through the years they were able to grow up with each other and experience each other in new ways. Even through tough patches, they were led back to one another where they continued to learn and love through adversity. The love deepened and continued to blossom. That love leads to today, where like a rose, it’s starts as a seedling and with care and time bloomed into something beautiful. Thank you for celebrating with us and witnessing our love in full bloom.
Everybody knows the show Martin, at least my family does. It’s a classic memory from my childhood. One of my favorite episodes is when Martin finally gets it and proposes to Gina in the park where her closest friends join in and set the tone. On March 21, I’m taken out to celebrate my birthday. We head out to dinner at the Wharf where we have a good time and decide to leave out for our next adventure. Upon leaving the restaurant, I notice a familiar face and to my surprise it was one of my sisters. She turns to me and says “Flowers for the lady”. Stunned but her presence but obviously very aware of that infamous line. I recognized it but still not sure what was going on. She hands me the flower and sends me on my way. Now I’m looking at Clarence , walking and wondering what on earth is going on until yet another familiar face and voice rings out. “Flowers for the lady” said by yet another sister. It clicks, I now know for sure the scene. The perfect picture from a classic show now turning into one of my memorable memories. I’m handed flowers and run into my brother that I now recognize as the ring exchange (just like in the episode). I’m led to a fountain where most of my family await, all holding out roses. I collect all the roses and turn to see my man, down on bended knee. He says “We’ve been through a lot but God kept us together. I’m ready for forever if you are, Will you Marry me”. Filled with emotion I gladly accepted.
