English Leo and Melina met in college at the University of Connecticut in 2011. They were both members of the Latin dance club, B.A.I.L.E. In this time they were simply good friends. Melina graduated that Spring 2012 and left to NYC. Leo stayed at UConn to finish his degree and the two remained Facebook friends. Four years later in 2016, after Melina returned to Hartford CT for graduate school, she posted a status on Facebook about how much she missed going dancing. Leo popped into the comments and invited her to dance. The two old friends reconnected at La Casona, and there was a spark on the dance floor. That was the beginning of a "DominiRican" love ...and the rest is history. Español Leo y Melina se conocieron en la Universidad de Connecticut en 2011. Los dos eran miembros del club de bailes Latinos, (B.A.I.L.E). En ese tiempo, los dos eran buenos amigos. Sucesivamente, Melina se graduó en 2012 y se fue para Nueva York. Leo se quedó en UConn para terminar sus estudios, pero ambos siguieron siendo amigos por en las redes sociales. Cuatro años mas tarde, en el 2016, un tiempo después de que Melina regresara a Connecticut para seguir estudios graduados, ella posteó en su muro de Facebook cuanto echaba de menos bailar. English In summer 2019, after three years of dating, Leo and Melina planned a day of outdoor fun. Melina had no clue the outing would be much more special than she ever imagined. In the morning, the two kayaked in a river in NH. It rained while kayaking, but that somehow made it more fun. As they kayaked down the river they saw some beautiful homes, and they started talking about the kind of home they wanted to build together one day. After kayaking, the rain stopped, and the two explored the trails at the Flume Gorge with its incredible waterfalls. Along the trail they continued talking about the life they wanted to create and the parents they wanted to be one day. The two then paused at a covered bridge overlooking the running water. Leo said "Everything we have talked about today, I want it with you. And I want it for forever." He pulled out a ring and got down on one knee. With tears in her eyes, Melina said "YES." Español En el verano de 2019, luego de tres años de novios, Leo y Melina planearon un dia de jira. Melina no tenía la mas mínima idea de que Leo tenía la intención de hacer la salida mucho más especial de lo que jamás imaginó. Por la mañana, pasearon en kayak por un río en NH. Llovía mientras navegaban, pero eso de alguna manera lo hizo más divertido. Mientras navegaban por el río vieron casas hermosas e imaginaron que tipo de casa querían construir juntos algún día. Después del paseo en kayak, la lluvia se detuvo y los dos fueron a explorar los senderos del “Flume Gorge" y sus increíbles cascadas. A lo largo del camino continuaron hablando sobre la vida que querían crear juntos y los padres que querían ser algún día. En ese momento, los dos se encontraban en un pintoresco puente cubierto sobre un riachuelo. Leo comenzó a decir, "Todo lo que hemos hablado hoy, lo quiero contigo y lo quiero para siempre." Sacó un anillo precioso de su mochila y se arrodilló. Sorprendida, emocionada y con lágrimas en sus ojos, Melina contestó "¡SÍ!"

Known as "Leo" to his friends, the groom and his family are from the Dominican Republic. He recently completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Leo has four siblings, and enjoys cooking, fitness, anime, dancing, and any outdoor activities such as hiking or the beach. Conocido por sus amigos como "Leo," el novio y su familia son de Santo Domingo. Recientemente completó su grado en Ingeniería Mecánica. Leo tiene cuatro hermanos y disfruta de cocinar, hacer ejercicios, ver animé, bailar y cualquier actividad al aire libre como ir de caminata o de jira a la playa.

Melina was born in New Haven, CT and her family is from Puerto Rico. She recently completed her degree in Clinical Psychology. Melina is the third of four siblings, and enjoys traveling, dancing, watching telenovelas, spending time with friends & family, shopping, and outdoor fun.
