San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is a zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California, housing 4,000 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies on 100 acres of Balboa Park leased from the City of San Diego.
Balboa Park

Its 1,200 lush acres (486 hectares) comprise the largest urban park in the United States. Apart from its many attractions, Balboa Park also features lengthy walking and hiking trails, distinctive landscaping, Golden Age Spanish buildings, and one of the world’s largest outdoor pipe organs.
San Diego Botanic Garden
Explore four miles of garden trails, enjoy restful vistas, flowering trees, majestic palms, and the nation’s largest bamboo collection.
Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve
Beautiful hiking area that Mel and I went to on our first trip to San Diego! Would recommend trying to park alongside the highway, as it is free. Great views of the ocean from atop the cliffs.
La Jolla Cove
Walk along the rocky shore to spot large colonies of sea lions lounging in their natural habitat and looking after their pups!
Disneyland Park
Mel and I are big Disney fans if you know us! We love visiting both of the parks in Anaheim.
Oceanside or Carlsbad
If you're looking for beachtown vibes, both of these cities have great access to the ocean and have beautiful beaches!
