Zachary and I were heading to Breckenridge, Colorado for our second year. A week of skiing, sightseeing, adventuring, and dining in the adorable town we call Breck. We were both excited for a relaxing vacation in the mountains, to enjoy a week away together. To my understanding, it was going to be a great vacation. To Zac’s understanding, it was going to be THE vacation. We spent time planning out our schedule for the week. Our favorite restaurants to visit, days to hit the slopes, and different adventures to throw in the mix. Zac mentioned he wanted to go to Sapphire Point Overlook Trail, an incredible view just 15 minutes away from our resort. So, Sunday morning, December 5th of 2021, I began getting ready for what I thought would be an uneventful and beautiful excursion. Little did I know... I remember we were struggling to get an Uber or Lyft to the trail head. I had no concern because we were on vacation, we had all the time in the world! But, Zac was thinking differently. He was anxious and concerned about not being able to find a ride. I was thinking to myself, “Geez Zac, you need to learn how to relax”. Finally were able to get a ride and a great look of relief came across Zac's face. When we arrived at Sapphire point, the view was breathtaking. The rolling mountains with tips of snow, the glistening lake, the beautiful pine’s overtaking the landscape. It was stunning! Zac and I walked for awhile around the trail, taking our time and enjoying the scenery with one another. We got to one spot on the trail and Zac mentioned that he wanted to walk down the hill a little bit. Me, obviously trying to ruin this moment, at first rejected the idea. I was too afraid of getting in trouble for leaving the trail. However, after some persuasion, Zac grabbed my hand and lead me down the hill. He stopped the both of us and turned to face me. Zac got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a moment we will cherish for the rest of our lives. It was absolutely perfect. Since that moment, our lives have changed. And now, we will finish off our engagement with a beautiful wedding surrounded by our family and closest friends. We feel we are living a dream come true. The start to our story and life together, all beginning in the little town of Breckenridge.
