Our Love Story

Melanie can write a novel about their story, but she won't since she's only allowed 2000 characters.

Where did it all begin... The first time Melanie laid eyes on Wang, she was probably 12 years old. Mao and Pua would take her to visit their church and that's when she saw him. Wang was in a church dance group called Absolute Angels and Melanie thought he was just the cutest boy ever, busted lip and errrthang! Melanie had the biggest crush on him and dreamt that one day she would marry him. #NotCreepy. Little did she know how their story was just beginning. Time went on, they both grew up and went their separate ways. Fast forward to 4 years later, they became decent friends. Wang would always crack Melanie up with his stupid jokes and how slow he was. He always had a colorful style, straight Hollister hair and such an energetic personality. Melanie was just the shy girl who liked to bake. She dedicated her best friend Taylor Swift's song "Invisible" to Wang when he didn't take her to his senior prom. But don't worry, she took him to her prom and that's when they became boyfriend and girlfriend! They were together for 2 years then Wang joined the Marine Corps. So they began a new journey of a long distance relationship. It was something so different for them and they had to adjust to life being apart. Throughout their 6 years of long distance they traveled, face timed, had their ups and downs, and made amazing memories. The rest is history...

The Proposal

March 11th, 2016

On Friday night Wang and Melanie were walking around Central Park. He insisted to take her to Bow Bridge because they didn't go last time they were there. Melanie was joking with him saying "Oh are you going to ask me to marry you on the bridge? Did you hire those musicians?" (street performers) He replied with a silly face and said no. She even patted his pockets. The ring was actually in his backpack. While they were on the bridge, Wang did search through the backpack to make sure he brought their Lion King tickets. Melanie asked him what he was doing and she briefly searched through the bag too, as Wang panicked! Little did she know he was actually going to propose. He asked a lady to "take a picture" of them. Melanie wasn't paying attention because she was Snapchatting, of course! She turned around and he went down on one knee and asked her to marry him. And that was the beginning of a new fairytale chapter! *side note: The first time they went to New York together it was actually raining. So they took a horse carriage tour around Central Park. Wang and Melanie got to see Bow Bridge from a distance and she told him how romantic it would be to get proposed to there, then quickly dismissed it. She told Wang "Just kidding, don't propose to me there, I'm SHY!" But he did it anyways LOL!
