Wedding Party

Ashlie Robertson

Matron of Honor

"I am the Elder-Bloom of our kin, a Shelter-Wall against the world's cold. Like a Bright-Star in the morning sky, I tread the path before her, my speech is sweet as mead, my spirit is a Tourch-Bearer in the dark." "Also she used to steal all of my clothes"

Kristen Freeman

Maid of Honor

"I met Mel when I moved to Texas in 2001 and we were glued at the hip for the next 11 years until she left for college. Now she just knows too many of my secrets and is forced to remain my friend forever."

Skylar Giacona (Bluebird)

Bridesmaid

"Melanie and I met in 8th grade and spent 4 years of playing varsity soccer together. From beach trips to game nights to two-stepping, no matter how much time has passed, we always pick up right where we left off!"

Sierra Higgins

Bridesmaid

"Mel and I met in college waiting tables! She made me promise to never leave Texas and then told me a few years later that she'd be moving to Chicago"

Jackie Pacheco

Bridesmaid

"I met Mel in college college when she was late to an organization meeting and didn't bring a pen.... and of course my overly organized self had extras! We were roommates 10 months later! I was also living in Milwaukee Mels first three years in Chicago and was thankful to be just a 90 min train ride away"

Amanda Matteson

Bridesman

"Melanie and I have been working together since she moved to Chicago. We clicked immediately, bonding over teaching middle school, dogs, happy hour, Diet Dr Pepper and sushi. I love her even more for our differences, though. She avoids reading at all costs and craves food so spicy it could melt steel, while I'm a book worm who thinks ketchup is living dangerously. I'm grateful for LOTs of laughs together in and out of school. :)"

Kyle Fraser

Officiant

I met Mitchell after running him down on the street at our apartment complex the first day of orientation in law school. We were both branded the "dog guys" in law school, having Shiner and Sammie to help us with studies in moments of crisis. I remember Mitchell raised the idea of getting a puppy during our first ever exams in the Fall of our 1L year, which I thought was a crazy idea but still encouraged because well why not!

Ben Laird

Groomsman

Funny story: when I first met Mitchell in college I didn't really like him. Not much as changed since then.

Jonah Rosenbaum

Groomsman

I met Mitchell on a bus to a ridiculous law school gardening event where we planted flowers. He was talking about Melanie! Afterwards, I mistook all the new plants someone else planted as weeds and yanked them all out, and he came running over screaming "My plants! My plants!"

Groomsman

I first met Mitchell in Dawson Turechek’s game room playing Pokemon Stadium when we were 8 years old one hot summer in 2003. I next met Mitchell in Allen High School’s AP course hall as the boyfriend of a girl in my English class in 2009. Then through months and years, between Allen and Austin, over guitar riffs and beer pints, Mitchell became a dear friend to me for whom I could not be more grateful. Melanie's good, too.
