We're getting married!

Unfortunately, no one predicted the impact COVID-19 would have on our lives. As a result, in lieu of a large nuptial ceremony, we're having an intimate elopement. Stay tuned for an epic celebration of our love in 2021!

We met at a Meetup event at ChiCha Hookah Lounge in DC, with the sole intention of meeting other like-minded friends and building our social circles. As the night went on we later found out that we were both born on the same day, around the same time, exactly one year apart on September 4th! Before parting ways, everyone at the event exchanged LinkedIn and Instagram profiles. I took it upon myself to find and add Jamilah on Facebook. Needless to say, I slid in her DMs and the rest is HERstory!

Jamilah came over while I was on the phone with a friend having my typical venting session about work. As we were getting off the phone my friend mentioned that we needed to finish our convo about the BIG question. I began to "talk in code" and got off the phone a bit abruptly. Well, intuitive Jamilah figured something was up and began playing her game of one million questions (I despise that game). Though not the proposal I had originally planned for, which was suppose to have been in Cabo San Lucas, I decided that COVID-19 wouldn't ruin things. I gave in and headed to my hiding place where I had been storing the ring for over a month and slid it in my pocket. I came back and handed her a LoveBook that described all the reasons why I love her and the last page of the book asked will you marry me. Her response was WHAT?! YOU BEAT ME TO IT... YES!
