We met through the powers of the world wide web on eharmony. At first she was not sure about him as he is an engineer, but she told her self to be open-minded and respond to him. The two would chat every once in awhile, but he was not that great at text messaging. She eventually took the plunge asked if the two can meet. He at first was not committal and wanted to play things by ear. So she set up another date with someone else. While she was pulling out of the frozen yogurt store, she received a text from him to see if the two can meet. We decided to meet for a drink at his favorite bar, Forrest Room 5.
In 2017 while at Burning Man, we stumbled across a photographer named Nick King whom was taking amazing photos of people near center camp for a book that he was making about all the different people that go to burning man. We had a wonderful experience taking our photos with him. When thinking about how i wanted to propose, i knew that i wanted to do it at Burning Man and i knew that knowing Melanie, it needed to be photographed. I contacted Nick when i saw that he was creating a new book at the 2018 burn and asked if he would be willing to photograph the proposal. He said he would love to so it was set! It was Wednesday, Aug 28th, we were having a fantastic start to the day and we went to get a Chai at center camp. We had an appointment at noon for our photo session. Nick did a really fun photo session, and helped us get in the moment with one another. After Nick finished taking our photos Ian told Melanie to turn around so he can get down on one knee and pull the ring out. Melanie turned around after he said to turn around again and he said, "Melanie I really love you, will you marry me?" She gave him a confident yes and kissed him.
