There is plenty to do in and around Meissen, but especially after a long journey, we recommend taking a relaxing walk around the historic city center and grabbing a beer and some authentic German food in the main square.

When approaching Meissen, you can't miss the Albrechtsburg castle. Take a tour of the historical 15th century castle and the adjacent cathedral, enjoy a coffee on the terrace, and take in the beautiful views over the city and Elbe river.

Visit the vineyard Schloss Wackerbarth for a tour and tasting, or just grab a glass of wine from their outdoor gastronomy and meander around the vineyard.

Meissen is one of the oldest and most well known porcelain manufacturers in Europe. With a visit to the porcelain museum, you can learn all about the Saxon porcelain tradition and even watch live demonstrations of porcelain creation.
