Gavi and Mel first met at a board game night in January of 2019 at friends Vince and Amanda's house. Gavi was dragged there by one of his best friends (and groomsperson) Sam. Mel showed up late after work. Mel sat to Gavi's right. They played a co-operative game (Clank! In! Space!) and were the last two players remaining. Mel had two options: make a move where nobody won or make a move where Gavi won. Mel's selflessness led her to let Gavi win. Gavi let her know he would have let them both lose. September of 2020: they matched on Hinge. Gavi commented on Mel's prompt mentioning chickens. Shout out to Gavi's family business and Mel's bridesmaid Grace (thanks for accepting all those chicken gifts over the years) for starting the conversation.

Mel & Gavi met in Dickinson Square Park the Friday after they matched online. Gavi brought beer and a cheese board. Mel brought a towel that was way too small to be an actual picnic blanket. Mel found Gavi easy to talk to and quirky enough to keep her interested. Gavi knew on the first date she was the person he was going to marry.

Gavi asked Mel to marry him when they went to Prague to in November of 2022. He proposed in front of Kostel Nejsvětějšího Srdce Páně - the church where Mel's grandparents got married. If you haven't seen it yet, their friend Laura took the most hilariously perfect video.
