Question

What is a New Orleans cocktail-style reception?

Answer

We will be having a cocktail-style reception designed for a night of celebration at your own pace. Instead of a seated dinner, we’ll be featuring a variety of interactive food stations serving Creole- and Cajun-inspired dishes throughout the evening, so you can enjoy delicious offerings whenever you’d like. The stations will remain open all night, allowing you to grab a bite, sip a cocktail, and get back to the dance floor without missing a moment. It’s all about great food, great music, and a lively, free-flowing atmosphere. Come hungry, stay energized, and dance the night away with us!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

For the welcome party, the dress code is cocktail attire. Gentlemen, ties are optional. For the ceremony and reception, we encourage guests to dress in formal, black-tie–inspired attire for our celebration. Tuxedos are welcome but not required—dark suits with ties or bow ties are perfect. Think floor-length gowns, elegant midi dresses, or chic cocktail attire. The vibe is classic, elevated, and festive.

Question

Are Children Invited?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our reception will be an adults-only celebration. The Elms is an adult-only venue due to its historic nature, and we kindly ask guests to plan accordingly. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you!

Question

How do I get to each event?

Answer

We’ve selected hotels located near our events to make getting around easy. Rental cars are not necessary, and we encourage you to use ride-share services such as Uber or Lyft for ease of transportation.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding weekend will unfold across both indoor and outdoor settings, inviting you to experience the beauty and charm of New Orleans in the wintertime. The Welcome Party will take place primarily indoors at the Audubon Clubhouse, with the option to spill out onto the wrap-around patio beneath the oak trees (weather permitting). Our ceremony and reception will unfold outdoors at The Elms Mansion, set beneath the oak trees, with a beautifully appointed tent if needed. December in New Orleans is typically mild, though evenings can be cool. We recommend a light jacket or wrap.

Question

What is a New Orleans second line?

Answer

In true New Orleans fashion, we’ll celebrate with a second line—a joyful, music-filled parade led by a live brass band. This uniquely New Orleans celebration marks the beginning of a new chapter, inviting guests to dance, wave handkerchiefs, and join in the celebration as we parade together.
