At the end of our date-nights and outings, we play a little game of "guess the bill." Our first meal of our Vegas trip was at Gordon Ramsay's Burger, where we both (I believe I was closer!) guessed the bill pretty accurately. Our next event for the day was cocktails at Mandarin Lounge before we watch the Penn & Teller show. I was looking forward to winning the next guessing round. Getting dressed for our evening, Chester kept asking "Shirt tucked, or untucked?" OMG. How many times is he going to ask? "Whatever is comfortable for you" I said. Why is he being so fussy about his shirt?! We sat in front of wall-to-wall windows at the top floor of the Mandarin Hotel. The view was stunning, and the cocktails were delicious. When we were ready to leave, the waitress brought out the check, handed it to me and said "I was told this is for you." It was a little awkward, but I didn't think twice about it. Chester asked "So what do you think the total is?" We went back and forth a couple of times with our guesses, then I opened up the check folder to see a paper with hearts that said "Will you marry me?" My first thought was "I don't remember ordering this drink". I wonder how long I must have stared until I realized what I was reading. Then, from the corner of my eye I saw Chester down on one knee holding a ring box open with my dream ring. Who knows how long he was on the floor. I turned to look at him, and I still didn't respond. He said "So...is that a yes?" Then came the ugly cry. The happiest ugly cry that I will always be so proud of. I guess "shirt untucked" was the way to go. I didn't even see that ring box in his pocket.
