We're getting married!

It all started when someone sent Melanie a picture of Louis and asked if she was interested. Without hesitation, she replied, “Yes, yup, mhmm!” A few days later, Lou approached the bar where Mel was working. It was love at first sight—or maybe love at first, “Can I have a Miller Lite?” Either way, something clicked instantly. As their relationship blossomed, Melanie met Louie’s dear Nanny on March 7th, 2023. When Nanny gave her stamp of approval, Lou knew he had the green light to make things official—and that’s exactly what he did. From that day forward, they’ve been inseparable. Together they’ve built a relationship rooted in love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life’s little moments. Whether it’s quiet nights at home, game nights with friends/family, or weekend camping trips with Louie’s parents, Chris and Chrissy, they’ve found joy in simply doing life together. Louis is the kind of man your parents dream of you marrying—the one you imagine as a little girl. He’s kind, gentle, and endlessly patient, and Melanie still can’t believe how lucky she is to have him. On July 19th, 2025, during one of their typical day trips out east to Greenport, Lou turned an ordinary morning into the best day of their lives. After breakfast at Green Hill Kitchen, they decided to pop into Burton’s Books across the street so Melanie could look for a book for her new book club. As they browsed the shelves, Lou called out from across the store, “Mel, is this it?” She walked over expecting a paperback—but instead found Louis holding a large photo book titled The Proposal. Inside were photos from their entire relationship, capturing every laugh, every adventure, every beautiful memory. As Melanie flipped through the pages, tears began to fall. The final photo took her breath away—it was of her mom’s resting place, with the engagement ring resting on top. Louis had not only asked her dad, Rob, for permission but had found a touching way to ask her mom, Debbie, too. Right there in the middle of the bookstore, Louis got down on one knee and asked Melanie to marry him. Through happy tears and shaky laughter, she said yes, of course! It was a dream proposal—thoughtful, romantic, and entirely “them.” Now, they’re counting down the days until they say “I do,” excited to start this next chapter surrounded by their favorite people. With every detail coming together and every plan falling into place, they can’t wait to celebrate the start of their forever.
