Hi Everyone! This is Melissa. I've told our story a million times, but for all of you here, I thought it'd be special to hear it from Ricky's Point of View. Here it is: "Love comes when you least expect it." For those that haven't heard "the story" yet, this is exactly how we found each other. A flower delivery turning into a life of happiness, laughter, and love. We met while Mel was setting up her cousin's birthday party, and I remember laying eyes on her and thinking "wow, she's beautiful". I wanted to speak to her, get her opinion on the flowers, but she never looked my way so I chose the next best option.... ask her mom. I didn't know it at the time, but that was probably the best decision I could've made; Rosie knows best. The party was set, and I left to go about my day, but not before immediately looking this girl up through her dad's name on the receipt for the party (facepalm). I just had to try and find her somehow, something in the universe was telling me I had to. So I searched high and low, and found nothing.. womp. Days go by and nothing, so I carried on until the day I met German Rodriguez, who on the receipt was listed as HERMAN Rodriguez (spelling error could've ruined it all). As luck would have it, the universe had me at the front counter talking to my future "father in law". German told me that Melissa told him "you missed your future son in law on Saturday". Yes; the bride's father sparked the relationship... when do you ever hear that? So a fun, laughable conversation between German and I turned into "tell your daughter to call me" in the most Ricky way possible (it was respectable, I promise). I never thought she would call, but she did and I initially thought that it was a bride that I was setting up a wedding for, little did I know it was MY future bride on the phone. Unfortunately, I did miss that call and nearly missed the opportunity, but one super professional voicemail, and a few Instagram searches later.....I found her - MELISSA, the one and only. I don't think I had ever been this excited in my life, but at this point it was meant to be. I sent the message, as charming as I could be, and as luck would have it, she responded. Skipping all the cringey first conversations...we went on our first date and talked for hours. I knew she was the one, that beautiful night on the water in Weehawken, and 8 years later, we made it here today. The rest is history with many more beautiful memories to come. We look forward to sharing some of those with you, our family and friends.
