Grafton was originally established in the mid-1800’s by the first pioneers to settle in the Zion area. Its last resident moved away in 1945 after decades of hardship due to flooding from the Virgin River, harsh winters and conflict with Native Americans. Several movies have since been filmed in Grafton including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). Take a look back in time and visit the cemetery or explore one of the abandoned buildings! Grafton Ghost Town is a great photo op and only 5 minutes from the Villa by car.
Bit & Spur is our favorite local restaurant and holds very special meaning to both brides! Madee grew up eating their southwest inspired fare when she was passing through Springdale on family camping trips with her dad, brother and cousins. Mel got the chance to do the same while on a family camping trip a few summers ago with Madee’s dad, his fiancée Sara and their family.
Totally by chance, the Zion Canyon Music Festival happens to be going on the same weekend as the wedding! The backyard of the Bit & Spur serves as the event venue and will be open on Friday and Saturday. Check their website for ticket info!
Great spot for breakfast or lunch with outdoor seating.
Vegas is only 2.5 hours away. Hit the strip and paint the town red on your way in or out!
