FAQs

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

With all of the camping logistics, best to leave younger kids with their grandparents for the weekend :)

Question

Will I have cell service?

Answer

Once you pass Kelly, Wyoming you will lose cell service, so please plan accordingly! The Main Lodge at Red Rock Ranch has wifi for guests to use.

Question

Can you explain the camping scene?

Answer

There is a road leading to a large, flat pasture within a short walking distance of the main lodge. Campers will have access to multiple "Hen Houses," which are used as staff dormitory rooms during the summer. They have full bathrooms including sinks, showers, and electricity. There will also be some even closer bathrooms with wash stations placed in the pasture. Since this is a wide open pasture, there is no shade, so we ask you to plan accordingly. There isn't access to water or or electrical hookups for campers, but the Hen Houses and main lodge have running water and electricity. The main lodge has plenty of space to relax inside or on the surrounding decks and patios. The main lodge has wifi. We encourage the campers to enjoy the main lodge spaces, pickleball court, horseshoe, volleyball court, fly fishing pond, hiking, swimming in Crystal Creek, horse petting, etc. You'll most likely be enjoying all that the ranch has to offer during your days and using camping only to sleep at night.

Question

What do campers need to bring?

Answer

We will be providing Friday dinner, all meals on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast. Campers are encouraged to bring additional snacks. Other recs: awnings for shade, warm sleeping bags for cold nights (we're at 7,000 ft!), winter hat, gloves and layers for mornings and evenings.

Question

Are Camp Fires Allowed?

Answer

No, this time of year is usually a very high fire danger in the west, and so no fires are allowed. We will have a fire in a designated fire pit.

Question

Are dogs allowed?

Answer

As much as we love your pups, you'll need to leave them at home this weekend.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Yes, if you are flying in you'll need to rent a car to get to Red Rock Ranch. We recommend renting a van or an RV to cover your car rental and accommodations! You can rent a sprinter van through a local company called Moterra, or you can check out Outdoorsy for RV rentals or camp gear rentals.

Question

What should I plan on for weather?

Answer

Red Rock Ranch sits high up in the Gros Ventre Mountains, at approximately 7,000ft. For this time of year, plan on highs of 80's mid afternoon, and lows of 40's at night. We recommend layers so you are comfortable all hours of the day. The time of year can be dry and dusty, so we recommend closed toed shoes for dressing up, and shoes you can walk on uneven surfaces in.

Question

Can I Fly Fish on the Creek at Red Rock Ranch?

Answer

The owners of RRR have worked hard to rehabilitate the fish habitat on Crystal Creek on their property, and ask that no one fishes on the ranch. There is a stocked fishing pond on the property that you can use, and just outside the ranch are plenty of good fishing spots.

Question

Where is the nearest place to buy groceries?

Answer

If you're flying in, or coming into the area from the direction of Grand Teton National Park / Yellowstone, Dornan's is the nearest grocery store. It's located in Moose, Wyoming right near the entrance to GTNP. The most affordable groceries are in Jackson: Smith's, Albertson's or Whole Foods are all located in town.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes, there is plenty of space on the ranch for parking.

For all the days along the way
