How We Met

06-17-2011

Mekenzie and Joseph met at the Live Oak Music Festival twelve years ago this summer. Breath of Love, a song by The David Mayfield Parade, one of the festival's performers that year, would become their song. "Two hearts beat like four dancing feet, when they move to the rhythm of love."

The Proposal

09-27-2022

Joseph proposed to Mekenzie during a casual walk on the beach with their dog Harvey. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our beloved friend in March of this year. Rest in peace sweet boy. You'll forever be by our side.

Our Journey

12 Years Later

Mekenzie grew up in Paso Robles playing under the oaks with her two brothers in their backyard. Joseph was raised 23 miles south in Santa Margarita spending most of his time outdoors with his younger brother & neighborhood friends. From a young age, Mekenzie & Joseph both attended the Live Oak Music Festival in the hills above Santa Barbara. Every year they camped across the road from each other at the festival & Joseph remembers water balloon fights with Mekenzie's older brother Dylan. Mekenzie & Joseph's paths didn't cross however until June of 2011 when they met by chance through a mutual friend and spent the weekend together. Their first date a week later was a cozy bonfire on the beach in Cayucos, the spark that ignited that night led to many more dates & they eventually decided to move to Santa Barbara to attend Santa Barbara City College. Although they both loved the area, city life became too much for them and after two & a half years they moved back north to Los Osos. There Mekenzie convinced Joseph to get a dog & they happily welcomed Harvey into their lives. A couple of years later the adventure bug hit & they spent four months traveling up the west coast into Canada & back down through Yellowstone to the Eastern Sierras in a Ford E150 van. They found their own tiny apartment in SLO which suited them well for two years until they got the opportunity to move to their house in Morro Bay where they are currently enjoying life & awaiting the next journey.
