Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo - Friday, June 21

5th Street and Howelsen Parkway in the Howelsen Hill sports complex, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487

RODEO IS A Steamboat TRADITION The rodeo was a part of Steamboat Springs’ culture even before the town was incorporated over 100 years ago, and it’s a tradition that is alive and well today....mentions of competitive rodeo events in the local newspaper, the Steamboat Pilot, date back to at least 1898. Today Steamboat’s rodeo arena hosts rodeo legends, hall-of-famers, world champions, circuit champions and season champions, as well as raw rookies. The rodeo is still an important part of summer in Steamboat Springs. Every Friday and Saturday evening Steamboat holds PRCA-sanctioned competitions during the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series. “Steamboat was a ranching town before it was anything else,” said John Shipley of the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series. "...it reminds us of our heritage in Northwest Colorado. It helps us keep our noses on our faces and not up in the air and our boots planted firmly on the ground.”

In the summer, the addition of a party deck, cabana rentals, and the Wibit, an inflatable obstacle course, make this a great place to spend the day. The swimming and soaking pools of Old Town Hot Springs served as a gathering and bathing place for the Ute Indians who first settled in the area. In the late 1800s, it was a social spot for the early homesteaders. Today, the family-friendly facility is the place for recreation and rejuvenation for visitors and locals alike. Kids will love the waterslides and rock-climbing wall. A kiddie pool, lap pool, fitness center and adults-only spring make this the perfect family destination.
