It was the back of Karan's head that I noticed first. So I guess you'd call it love-at-first-back-of-head? Doesn't have the greatest ring to it. In any case, yes, instead of paying attention to the lecture happening in front of me, all I could think about was when I'd get to see this stranger again. As with all the great love stories, we met again in the burrito line at our university's cafe, and well - the rest is history. Amidst first dates at the university library (he wasn't impressed with my organic chemistry skills), food travels throughout San Diego, various basketball-related excursions, countless game nights, our mutual fondness for all things television, and our journey as doctors-to-be, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. I don't have to tell you that Karan is kind and funny (yes! funny!), and compassionate and driven. He's the hardest worker I know with a unique ability to understand exactly how to alleviate my worries and fears. He makes me feel like I can accomplish anything, and I am so excited for our life together!
It was summertime in San Francisco, and time to ask the big question (with assistance from friends and approval from parents, of course). I planned far in advance to make sure nothing went wrong - contacting our photographer to capture the moment, and asking for advice on the best proposal spots (being a homebody, I needed all the help I could get!). I must say, I was pretty nervous that day, checking my pocket every now and then to make sure the ring was still there. Mekala definitely knew I was nervous too, and I'm prettyyyy sure she knew exactly what was about to happen. But hey! It worked out, didn't it? Mekala is all I could ever ask for in a partner! She's kind, caring, and knows every little thing that makes me tick. Her bubbly attitude is something I love seeing; it's the perfect start and end to my day. I've enjoyed every moment discovering new TV shows, finding new parks, and exploring the Chicago food scene with a little mix of Kalamazoo Erbelli's and Los Amigos. Now, I'm thrilled to be able to spend the rest of my future with Mekala! I’m excited for all the new adventures to come in our new home. One thing I’m really looking forward to is exploring all of the food in and around Ann Arbor and Detroit with Mekala! And - I'm looking forward to the new sports teams we will follow!
