How We Met

Not High School Sweethearts

This love story could have started back at Prior Lake High School, but it didn't. Gage was a football and baseball player and Lexi was a hockey goalie and rower. They knew who each other were, but didn't really know each other despite having classes together. After graduating high school in 2014, Lexi went off to Notre Dame and Gage went off to North Dakota State. After freshman year of college, both were back in Prior Lake for the summer. One random evening, Isaac Eiter (groomsman) invited Lexi to come over to his house for a game night, and guess who just happened to be there...Gage Meiners. It wasn't love at first site, but as the game nights continued, a friendship started to grow. And here we are, 7 years later, celebrating their marriage.

Our Life Together

Breweries and Dogs

While in school, Lexi and Gage did "the long-distance thing". Gage took trips down to Notre Dame and Lexi would take trips to Fargo during semester breaks. In 2018, both Lexi and Gage found themselves moving back to the Twin Cities. Lexi was working at General Dynamics Mission Systems and Gage was working at Apple Ford in Shakopee (both continue working at these businesses today). At the start of the pandemic, Gage and Lexi moved into an apartment together in St. Louis Park, MN. In August of 2020, they got a pandemic-puppy, a red lab named Brewer. In January 2021, Lexi and Gage closed on a house in Edina, MN. They have very much enjoyed turning this house into a home over the past year. In their spare time, you can find Gage and Lexi at breweries, spending time with friends and family, and spoiling their dog, Brewer.

The Proposal

November 14, 2020

After five years of dating, Gage finally popped the question on November 14, 2020. The night started out just like another Saturday night, and Lexi did not suspect a thing. Gage and Lexi met Mackenzie Brandt and her boyfriend, Andrew Wilson, at Dayblock Brewing in Minneapolis, MN. After a few beers, Mackenzie was insisting that we walk 1.5 miles to Stone Arch Bridge "because she had never seen it before". Keep in mind, this was November in MN, so it was cold and slightly misty. On this walk, Lexi started to suspect that something special was going on. Overlooking the Minneapolis skyline, Gage popped the question in the middle of Stone Arch Bridge, and of course Lexi said yes. In typical fashion, they celebrated the occasion over a beer at Headflyer Brewing.
