Can't wait to celebrate with you!

Mehreen and Tommy met in the winter of 2017 on the dating app called Hinge. Mehreen was intrigued by Tommy’s love for music, well-traveled background, and of course, the cute little pup in his profile picture (only to realize later on that Tommy did not actually own the dog and that it was used as a prop for his dating profile!) Their first date coincided with Tommy having major dental surgery only hours prior (which he did not tell her about until they were at dinner for fear that she would cancel). However, he didn’t let a mouth full of stitches stop them (thankfully sushi is easy to chew). On their third date, Mehreen took him to a local Pakistani restaurant to really test if he was the one, and to her surprise he passed with a full stomach and flying colors! From that point on, Mehreen knew that Tommy was a keeper. From there, their relationship continued to grow stronger, at first surviving the test of Tommy’s offshore rotational schedule for the first year of their relationship, and soon after surviving the test of always having him around (aka a normal office schedule). Between their obsession for quoting every episode of the Office, to their mutual love for margs and traveling the world, Tommy and Mehreen had each found their “Marshmallow and Lilly-pad”. The pair’s love for travel took them around the globe together with map in hand, from Mexico to Prague and Budapest, Machu Picchu to Croatia, and most recently to Big Bend and Yellowstone National Parks.

And then the true test of it all: the COVID era. Not long after the pandemic began, the couple moved in together and both were told that they would be working from home for just a few months. Little did they know that a few months would turn into over a year (and still counting!) Through all the trials and tribulations of being in quarantine, Mehreen and Tommy grew closer and enjoyed their time together to learn and do new things! From exploring the city of Houston on bike-rides, to trying new recipes and growing their first home-garden together (later killed by the infamous Texas winter freeze), Mehreen and Tommy found a way to make their quarantine experience somewhat fun without going insane (most of the time).

And as if the quarantine couldn’t get any better, then came the proposal! Tommy and Mehreen’s best friend Naomi had slowly and cleverly convinced Mehreen that an engagement was on the horizon, and that Valentine’s Day 2021 was likely the big day. However, all that time Tommy and Naomi were secretly planning for a surprise engagement on Jan 22nd. Naomi had come into town for a friend’s wedding that weekend and laid out a perfect diversion, taking Mehreen out to fix her nails (Naomi purposely chipped hers, talk about a soldier!), and then for dinner and wine. Meanwhile, Tommy went straight to the rooftop patio and spent the day stringing lights across the roof. Once finished he laid rose petals all the way from the front door to the roof, put the champagne on ice, and sat there with Leon Bridges' “Beyond” cued up on Spotify, just waiting to hear the front door unlock. When Mehreen came home and opened the door, she saw the rose petals and heard the music and knew that something special was happening. She worked her way to the roof and found Tommy below a string of lights with the ring in hand, thankfully said yes!, and both knew that it would be a day that they would never forget. From traveling the world, to being stuck at home for over a year, Tommy and Mehreen continue to make the most of everything that life throws at them, and can’t wait for their next adventure together: becoming husband and wife! They look forward to having their loved ones all come to Austin to celebrate their wedding, and can’t wait to see the future that awaits them!
