I met the love of my life in Atlanta and that’s why I LOVE Atlanta!! It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I was in Atlanta for the weekend to meet my GPMBA friends for dinner (and someone very special ). The Northeast Ismaili Jamatkhana had recently opened. I had some time before dinner and wanted to make a trip to the Jamatkhana, but Jamatkhanas are generally not open on Sundays at that time. I took a chance and went. Upon arriving, I was happy to see that the parking lot was full and realized that there was a “Chai and Chat” event going on. Even though I was getting late for dinner, I decided to stay back for the official tour. I didn’t know why (I know now though). While we were waiting for everyone to get together, I couldn’t stop myself from admiring this beautiful and confident woman. I had a big smile on my face when I learned that she was our tour guide. When she started the tour, I almost felt flat with the poise and graciousness with which she spoke. I want to say that I felt something... something different… something special… and now I know why… Because that tour guide is now the love of my life. Yes... It was Mehak!! I want to say it was love at first sight… for me at least. I needed a cupid to do the magic. My confidant and younger sister Zohra (Pinky) and Mehak’s good friend Rabia played cupid’s role to start this story!! Yes... they are all STEP Teachers (were together in London for a couple of years doing their master’s program) and if you think that’s crazy then you should know that that was the first and last time Mehak ever gave a tour!! Destiny at its best!!
