The Proposal

October 3, 2023

Meg knew her and Josh were in for a memorable trip to Europe, but she had no idea just how epic that it would truly be. Traveling with a group of friends and a well hidden piece of jewelry, the trip began with a stop in Munich for Oktoberfest. The group quickly shed their lederhosen and dirndl's for the Swiss countryside before finally making their way to Rome for the Ryder Cup. After all, Josh had Meg convinced the golf tournament was the only reason for the trip. While the golf results didn't go as planned, Josh did not let that sway his intentions of landing a trophy of his own. The travel group parted ways, while Josh and Meg headed south for some 1:1 time in the Amalfi Coast with planned stops in Capri and Positano. Several flights, a few trains rides, taxis, and a ferry later, it is safe to say that Josh was relieved when he and Meg (and that well hidden piece of jewelry) finally arrived safely in Isla de Capri. In typical Josh fashion, he had quite a plan in store. After all, they don't call him Mr. Logistics for nothing. The big day began with a private boat ride in the Tyrrhenian Sea around the Faraglioni. Unbeknownst to Meg, this would be the backdrop to a very important question in just a few short hours. Josh's plan for the couple's evening outing was to visit the Gardens of Augustus, followed by dinner at Le Monzu, a nearby Michelin star restaurant. In order to keep Meg on schedule, as she isn't particularly known for her timeliness, Josh promised wine and live music at the gardens as long as they were on time and could beat the "crowd." Meg shockingly got ready with minimal distraction, with the exception of catching Josh hyping himself up in the mirror several times. Despite a few wrong turns along the way, the couple promptly made their way to the Gardens in the hot Capri sun. Reaching an overlook of where they had just been boating below earlier that day, there was no sign of any live music (or wine, for that matter). As they waited for the overlook to clear of tourists, Meg barely noticed the hired photographer off to the side with her eyes and camera lens focused on the soon to be fiancé. Nervously, Josh dropped to a knee and proceeded to give his speech before asking Meg for her hand in marriage. Despite the mirror exercises earlier, the speech didn't flow quite as planned, but lucky for Josh, Meg didn't hear a word he said. In total shock, she was only able to muster up a "mmhmm" as her confirmation that she was ready to become Mrs. Deal. Onlookers began to applaud and finally Meg spotted the photographer who had been capturing the whole moment. With a shiny new ring on Meg's finger, the newly engaged couple toasted and celebrated over the dinner that Josh had planned. The trip was then capped off in Positano as the future Mr. and Mrs. Deal, ending what was the most memorable trip of their lives.

How We Met

June 6, 2020

The year was 2020, and the world had been shut down for nearly four months -- at least the world of Seattle. Both independently social people, Josh and Meg were stir crazy, unknowingly living just a few blocks from each other. When news began to spread that the local neighborhood bar would be opening to 25% capacity, it should come as no surprise that both were there on opening night. Ironically enough, Buckley's Pub's slogan is "Where Neighbors Become Friends," but on this night these two neighbors were destined to become much more. Feeling sorry for Josh after getting left by his friends, their bartender friend introduced him to the two blondes who had snuck in just before close. After all, one of the girls was from North Carolina, and Josh was from Tennessee, so surely they would hit it off. Sure enough, the conversation was easy and they exchanged numbers with hopeful plans to hang out in the future. It took a handful of dates, a couple of road trips, and a trip to Charleston (a brave endeavor by Meg, because who flies cross-country with someone they just met three weeks ago?), but soon Josh and Meg would make things official. Over the coming months they would continue to grow closer -- as did their addresses, with Josh deciding to move into the apartment building directly across the street from Meg (a move he still claims was simply a deal too good to pass up). Four years later, with countless trips and adventures, as well as a cross-country move under their belts, they have talked to each other every day since meeting on June 6, 2020 -- and Josh is still saved as "Joshua Tennessee" and Meg is still saved as "Meg Charlotte."
