We met the summer on 2016 while Alex and Dan were spending a lot of time together running marathons. Alex was spending time around the Rietema Cottage for many beach, boat, and cookout days. Alex took Meg out on a first date to the dunes at the Felt Mansion in Saugatuck - (after a failed attempt to sneak past the security guard on the south side of Lake Macatawa to get close to Big Red!). The relationship grew over the summer but came to an end when Meg had made up her mind to move away for a travel nurse job - the timing was just not quite right for their relationship to continue long distance. Over the next year and a half, we touched base here and there when we bumped into each other through mutual friend gatherings. We ultimately reconnected Saturday while Meg was home for Thanksgiving, spent Sunday watching football together, went on a date to Butcher's Union on Monday night, and were "official" before Meg flew back to Seattle on Tuesday! Their love blossomed over the phone and Google Duo for six months with multiple trips back and forth to spend quality time together - the highlight being the week Alex flew out and we spent time hiking in the mountains/rain forest of the Pacific Northwest. We like to explain our relationship in the summer of 2016 not working out with the wise words of the great Frank Sinatra: "love is lovelier the second time around"... ("The Second Time Around") We are so excited to involve you on our wedding day as we get to officially start our new life together! We feel as though you have all touched our lives in one way or another and appreciated all the support you have already given us. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
