Who knew that a girl from Colorado and a boy from El Salvador would fall in love in Cali? We met in 2017 shortly after Meghan moved to California for her residency at CHOC. On our first date we talked about our mutual love for dogs and our families over a bottle of wine. And then quickly we were inseparable. We learned to support and love each other through grueling residency and fellowship for Meghan and getting a new job and then an MBA for Rafa. Meghan also fell in love with El Salvador over the several trips we took to visit his family. And Rafa got to visit Meghan's favorite vacation spot growing up, Bethany Beach! Rafa proposed with a picnic on the beach in Laguna after taking Meghan to one of her favorite wine spots (shoutout to McClain Cellars). Meghan never saw Rafa more into wine tasting then he was that day... and in true "Meghan" fashion we showed up late to our own proposal!
