Like many modern love stories, ours began with a simple swipe on Tinder. What started as a casual match quickly became something more meaningful when we discovered a surprising connection, Melanie was roommates with one of Meghan’s closest high school friends. Although we attended different colleges and never crossed paths during those years due to our demanding sports schedules, fate clearly had other plans. From the beginning, we took our time getting to know each other and soon realized how much we had in common: a love for dogs, strong family values, and a shared sense of humor and adventure. Everything just felt easy like we had finally found the person we didn’t even know we were missing. Our first date was a fun and relaxed night of mini golf and drinks though it’s now famously remembered for one key detail: Meghan forgot to feed Melanie (something that still gets brought up to this day)! Despite that, it was the start of something truly special. One of the first moments we both felt the depth of our connection was at Hamburg Brewery. Sitting together that day, laughing and talking, we felt completely at peace. Later, we took our dogs, Oakley and Champ, to the beach, and it felt like everything in life had fallen into place. Years later, that same brewery would become the place where we got engaged. Over time, we built a life full of love, trust, and adventure. We’ve made countless memories from spontaneous road trips to Boston and Virginia, to everyday moments that somehow feel extraordinary just by being together. We’ve supported one another through new jobs, finishing school, moving, buying our first home, and juggling busy schedules. No matter what life brings, we’ve always shown up for each other as teammates, partners, and best friends. When it came time to talk about engagement, we knew we wanted to design something meaningful. We spent months working with a custom jeweler, hand-picking every detail of our rings together. As the rings neared completion, Meghan secretly approved them early and had them delivered to her mom so her sister Britt could help coordinate an unforgettable proposal. What Meghan didn’t know was that Melanie was secretly planning a double proposal of her own. On the day of the proposal, Melanie was dropped off at Hamburg Brewery for what she thought was a surprise day out. Britt was there to get her ready and to hand her Meghan’s ring. Meanwhile, Meghan waited by the pond surrounded by flowers, ready to propose. As Melanie walked down, ring in hand, what was meant to be a solo moment turned into the most perfect and heartfelt double proposal. We both said “yes,” surrounded by our families, and spent the rest of the day celebrating a love that has always felt like home. Looking ahead, we are most excited to grow old together hand in hand through every season of life. From building a home to raising a family (not just dog kids this time), we can’t wait to continue growing in love and partnership, side by side, for all the years to come.
