If it's your first time visiting Charleston, we highly recommend making a trip downtown! Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina offer water taxis and shuttles for transit. Uber is always another option for transportation. The famed King Street offers shopping, food, drink, and charming historic buildings. Some our our favorite eats on King include The Darling Oyster Bar, King Street Dispensary, and 167 Raw. Check it out- you won't be disappointed!
If you venture downtown, we highly recommend checking out all that Market Street has to offer. Charleston City Market is one of the oldest public markets in the country, stretching for four city blocks. Local artists and vendors sell jewelry, souvenirs, and lots of other things that add to Charleston's charm!
If you make it to Charleston City Market, you'll find Henry's just across the street. One of our favorite hang outs downtown, Henry's is a three-story restaurant/bar with two rooftops and live music. Great for accommodating large groups for lunch/dinner or for a night out!
Where we first fell in love with our new home... and got engaged! Sullivan's Island is a small town with a laid back beach atmosphere. Grab a Game Changer and some barbecue at Home Team BBQ, tacos and margaritas at Mex 1, or pasta and espresso martinis at The Obstinate Daughter (our personal favorite).
Popular for casual waterfront dining and drinking, Shem Creek is another must see while in Charleston. Both sides of the creek are lined with lively bars and restaurants. Hot spot for dolphins and some of the best sunsets in Charleston! For the best food on the creek, head to Tavern and Table. For a more laid back vibe, check out Red's Ice House.
