Meghan and Eloy’s story begins long before dating apps, group chats, or even fully developed frontal lobes—back in 9th grade study hall at Longwood High School. They technically met then, though “met” might be generous. They weren’t super close, did their own thing, and definitely didn’t know they’d one day be planning a wedding. One thing did leave a lasting impression, though: Meghan didn’t invite Eloy to her Sweet 16—a fact he has absolutely not forgotten and occasionally brings up to this day. After high school, life did what it does best and sent them in different directions. Meghan headed to SUNY Albany, Eloy to Queens College. They stayed in touch through mutual friends, shared group chats, and overlapping social circles. At one point, Eloy was even dating Meghan’s roommate (plot twist), while Meghan had a boyfriend of her own. Clearly, the timing was never quite right—but the connection never fully disappeared either. As relationships came and went, Meghan and Eloy grew closer… but not too close. They hovered comfortably in that confusing space between friendship and something-more, all while continuing to date other people and remain part of the same friend group. Then came New Year’s 2017. Somewhere between the countdown, hanging with "those guys", the chaos, and a little holiday magic, they shared their first kiss. Scandalous? Maybe. Memorable? Absolutely. Even after that, they didn’t immediately jump into dating. Instead, they kept being friends, kept circling each other, and—unknowingly—kept building the foundation of something lasting. They both had crushes on each other, but it wasn’t until 2019 that they finally decided to give “us” a real shot. They don’t have an official anniversary date (why start being traditional now?), so they’ve decided to celebrate the date that truly sealed the deal: their engagement on November 30, 2025. Prior to that, they had already taken a pretty big leap—buying a house together in St. James, NY on November 22, 2024—because nothing says commitment like choosing paint colors and mortgage paperwork. Now, after years of near-misses, bad timing, good friends, and one very unforgiven Sweet 16 snub, Meghan and Eloy are getting married on September 5, 2026. FINALLY!!!
