As one does in the 21st century both living with our parents, we met on the good old dating app Hinge at the end of March of 2021. After talking and getting to know each other for few weeks and a few jokes about ending up on the show Catfish later, we had our first date at More Brewing in mid-April. We hit it off quick and our weekdays started to fill with after work date nights which then turned into spending most weekends together. Soon after, in October 2021, as mid twenty-year-olds, we were both looking to move out of parents houses and on a whim Cruz asked to move in together. After a little thinking (on Meghan's part) we started searching for our first apartment together. Fate must have been on our side during our search because we ended up signing a lease for our first apartment which was across the street from More Brewing, our first date spot!
Cruz could not have chosen a better or more intimate proposal spot. For the last 3 years we have loved going to a flower farm every September in Minooka (Cruz's hometown) so he knew how much I love this activity. So, one Saturday in late July I had planned for us to go to brunch and Cruz said he had the rest of the day planned, which is definitely not usual for him to have planned a date by himself! I at least begged him to tell me what type of outfit I needed to wear for this date. After brunch, we drove about an hour south of our house in Lombard and as we were getting close, I saw fields of flowers. He had taken me to Wildflower Farm, a new flower farm. We picked a bouquet of beautiful flowers and when we were finished, we went to a more secluded flower garden to take some selfies. As I turned around to walk out of the garden area, he stopped me and said "I have one last question to ask you before we leave. Will you not be my forever girlfriend anymore, will you marry me?" I have always joked that I was going to be his forever girlfriend because even though we had only been dating for a little over 3 years at this point it felt like we both knew from early on that we were going to marry each other one day. Also, I was almost 30 and as I reminded him many times, I am not getting any younger! After he proposed we went for a celebratory drink at the place that kicked off our love story, More Brewery!
